Walk the Monterey "Walk of History," a self-guided tour that reveals Monterey's Spanish heritage, explore the famous Monterey Aquarium, visit Cannery Row, as vividly described in John Steinbeck's classic novel, sample fresh seafood and Californian wine with a view of the ocean, shop for antiques and clothing in New Monterey or in nearby Carmel Monterey is one of California's best tourist destinations.

Nature lovers will enjoy the long beaches at Monterey Bay, the rugged wind-swept coast at Big Sur, whale-watching or hiking in Point Lobos State Reserve. Carmel-by-the-Sea is just a few highway miles south of Monterey and is known for its art scene and food.
